description

The .50 caliber Iver Johnson AMAC Model 1500 sniper rifle is a variation of the "RAP Model 500" originally designed by a team lead by D. Haskins of Research Armaments Prototypes. The RAP Model 500 was developed at the request of US Armed forces during 1981-82 and was later purchased by US military in 1983. During the 1980s, Iver Johnson Arms bought and upgraded the design and marketed the weapon as the AMAC-1500. The RAP Model 500 and the Iver Johnson AMAC-1500 are mostly similar in basic design elements with some exceptions, such as a different barrel shape, muzzle brake, and bipod. Each model features a removable "shell holder" rotating bolt with three lugs, folding bipod, and telescope sights. Both models disassemble into several major parts for easy carrying. This AMAC 1500 is shown with a Leupold M1 Scope and proprietary rings and mounts.
