description

Conceived by the famous firearms designers John Browning and John Pedersen, the Ithaca Model 37 was developed following World War I when the Ithaca Gun Company was searching for a pump-action shotgun to compete with the Winchester Model 12. As a result of waiting for patents on previously-made shotgun models to expire and become public domain, the development period for the Model 37 lasted from 1933 to 1937. With several variations still being produced, the Ithaca 37 has the longest production run for a pump-action shotgun in history; surpassing that of the Winchester Model 12, the original inspiration for the shotgun. The various versions of the model 37 have been a favored weapon of the sport-shooting and hunting communities as well as among law enforcement and military outfits.
