description

After numerous trials held by the Soviet military during the late 1920’s and early 1930’s, the Tokarev TT was selected to become their staple sidearm. Invented by the famous Russian arms designer Fedor Tokarev, the Tokarev TT is a single-action, short-recoil operated pistol that served the Soviet Union from 1930-1952; however, was fielded well into the 1970’s. The pistol was intended to be the modern semi-automatic replacement for the Red Army’s then-obsolete Nagant M1895 pistol. The firearm became so revered during WW II that captured Tokarev’s were reissued among the Wehrmacht ranks. While it was replaced in 1952 by the 9mm Makarov PM pistol, the success of this firearm is evident due to its enduring presence and various copies which were produced China, Hungary, North Korea, Poland, Romania and Yugoslavia.
